I'm Mabel, it's so fab to meet you and support you on your journey!

I started Cosmic Chicks because I wanted a sport and social network in one.

I wanted friends who wanted to train and socialise, something that was hard to find and often completely separate, especially when not at uni.

​

But, after chairing the Athletics Club whilst at university, I saw first-hand how few women trained and raced alongside me.

I want to change that because opportunity shouldn't be based solely off ability or financial circumstance. From Athletics, 3 of us signed up for an Ironman 70.3 together, where less than 12% of the start list was female, and unfortunately the current opportunities  for women in endurance and multi disciplined sports are underfunded and very  misunderstood.

I'm very lucky that triathlon gave me confidence, resilience and lifelong friendships after competing at national and elite level for most of my life— but in my early twenties it still felt intimidating, exclusive and overwhelmingly focused on performance rather than participation.

I want other people to have the support network I created for myself and that I grew up with.

 It certainly wasn't perfect but it created an invaluable foundation and confidence that I have carried throughout my life.

So I built something different, a community built on authenticity rather than ability.  

You can always do both, I'm a firm believer in that. A sport and social network!
